What are Precious Metals?

Some metals are considered to be "precious" which are naturally-occurring elemental metals that have a high economic value. The four primary precious metals are silver, gold, platinum and palladium. Precious metals were used as currency in the past, but now are more of an investment and made into jewelry. In other cases, the metal is precious because it is valued for other uses and is rare.

So when investing in jewelry, be sure to keep a look out for precious metal jewels.
